PROGRAM MODULES
Seminar Studies
In addition to the masterclasses, we are hosting four seminar studies—intensive one-day training courses that dive much deeper into highly specific topics. These seminars are designed to complement the masterclasses, providing additional specialized knowledge and hands-on training in areas crucial to professional growth.
Each seminar focuses on a particular subject that is highly relevant to your career, allowing you to gain expertise in niche areas of color grading that are in-demand in today’s industry.
Custom Film Profiling
In this seminar, we move beyond traditional film emulation with 3D LUTs and dive into the art of building truly original film profiles. Using carefully prepared test scans, you will learn how to analyze, design, and create a custom film profile that reflects the unique characteristics of your workflow. This process allows you to emulate film stocks that are not available anywhere else, giving you the ability to develop looks that are 100% your own. By the end of the session, every participant will walk away with a fully functional, tailor-made film profile to integrate into their projects.
Product Placement using Ai
In this seminar, we will explore how to harness AI to transform and repurpose commercial content by seamlessly replacing products within existing footage. Whether it’s updating packaging with a new label or showcasing an entirely different product, this technique opens powerful possibilities for advertisers to maximize the value of their material. Participants will learn practical workflows for deploying AI in real-world scenarios, gaining the ability to refresh campaigns, adapt to new markets, and creatively reimagine footage without the need for costly reshoots.
Alexa 35 SDR/HDR Workflow
In this seminar, we will focus on the ARRI Alexa 35, the world’s most advanced camera designed from the ground up to support high dynamic range workflows with built-in color management. Participants will learn how to take full advantage of these capabilities—deploying them in-camera, applying them to dailies, and carrying them through to post-production. The result is a seamless, end-to-end HDR and SDR workflow that ensures consistency, creative flexibility, and maximum image quality across every stage of production.
Showreel Clinic
A
For every professional colorist, the ultimate marketing tool is the showreel. In this seminar, we will run a dedicated showreel clinic, designed to help you elevate your reel into a powerful calling card that truly resonates. You will learn how to structure your work for maximum impact, how to craft sequences that provoke the reactions you want from your audience, and how to position your reel to win more clients and land more gigs as a professional colorist.
Earning Your Diploma in the Color Grading Masters Program
To achieve your diploma in this prestigious program, you will undergo a series of rigorous steps designed to ensure a deep and comprehensive understanding of color grading.
Practical Assignments
At the core of our Master’s Program in Colour Training lies practice. Over the course of the first six months, you will be required to complete weekly practical assignments designed to challenge and refine your color grading skills.
Each assignment will be personally reviewed in a live feedback session led by Dado Valentic, where you will receive direct, in-depth critiques of your work. These sessions offer a rare opportunity to gain real-time insights, understand areas for improvement, and receive acknowledgment for the quality of your work.
This is the only program in the world that combines such a high level of practical training with one-on-one mentorship, ensuring you develop the skills necessary to excel as a professional colorist.
Knowledge Tests
At the end of each Masterclass, you will be required to complete a comprehensive test designed to affirm and consolidate your knowledge of the subject. These assessments serve as a vital step in ensuring that you have fully grasped the key concepts and techniques covered in each session.
By testing your understanding, these evaluations help reinforce your learning, allowing you to confidently apply your newfound skills in real-world projects. Completing these tests successfully will validate your progress and ensure you are fully prepared for the next stage of the program.
Master Thesis
Upon completing the practical training, each student is required to author a Master Thesis—a personal research project that explores a topic of your choosing within the realms of color grading, the history of cinema, image processing, or cinematography.
This thesis is more than just an academic exercise—it is an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the collective knowledge of the field. Through in-depth research and analysis, you will not only deepen your own expertise but also provide valuable insights that benefit fellow students, industry professionals, and the broader filmmaking community.
By the end of the program, your work will stand as a testament to your mastery, innovation, and thought leadership in the evolving world of color.
Final Look Design Assignment
As part of your final assignment, you will be required to submit a practical look design project, showcasing your ability to develop and apply a cinematic look to a piece of your own work. This project is your opportunity to demonstrate your mastery of look development and how your skills can be used to enhance storytelling through color.
Your submission should not only exhibit technical excellence but also artistic intent, showing a clear understanding of how color, contrast, and tone influence the emotional impact of a scene. This assignment serves as the ultimate proof of your expertise, preparing you to take on professional-level projects with confidence.
A Testament to Your Mastery and Future
Earning the Color Grading Masters Diploma is more than an academic achievement; it’s an official recognition of your refined skills and deep understanding of the art and science of color grading.
