Winter Look Academy
One of the greatest desires that every filmmaker, cinematographer, or colorist has is to make their images more ‘filmic.’ Everyone seems to be after that elusive Filmic Look. Suppose we are to learn and study in more detail how Film works. Would we then be able to decide better when something looks filmic and then develop a greater sensitivity and understanding of the process that would help us discover the real magic that happens in front of our eyes when we shoot on Film?
Four weeks of a realtime training program with four modules
Module One is dedicated to Cinema Theory Studies. Each week we will analyze a movie, its look and learn more about the work of its Director, Cinematographer, and Colorist.
Module Two is dedicated to Film technology studies, and each week we will be focusing on subjects such as Film Image Structure, Photographic Sensitometry, Film Types, Laboratory Tools, and Techniques.
Module Three is dedicated to guest lectures by Hollywood’s leading color scientists, colorists, cinematographers, and film manufacturing representatives.
Module Four is the practical module, where each week, participants will be required to build looks decks and create looks inspired by each week’s study.
